Joey is currently a Journalism and Sports Business student in his first year at University of Oregon with aspirations of working in the sports industry. A native of Santa Cruz, CA, he grew up a passionate Bay Area sports fan and loves to talk about his favorite teams (among other things). What better way to do so than a blog?

An experienced writer, Joey has covered high school sports for Patch.com, interned at the Santa Cruz Sentinel, and writes for the University of Oregon's Daily Emerald. He also has experience in the radio industry hosting sports-talk shows on KSCO-Santa Cruz and now hosts sports-talk shows and broadcasts play-by-play for various sports on KWVA-Eugene. Television is the newest addition to his resume after joining Duck TV Sports to appear on camera and work behind the scenes.

Most recently, Joey has begun working with Bay Area Sports Guy writing blog posts and will be doing live game coverages over the summer.

Preston Hiefield

Oregon Ducks and Big Topic Sports Writer

Preston is a freshman Journalism major and Business minor at the University of Oregon with a career goal of working in the industry of sports. Born and raised in Tualatin, OR about twenty minutes south of Portland, Preston has been an avid follower of the Oregon Ducks and the Portland Trailblazers his whole life. He is passionate about sports and will always welcome a debate. He feels that tennis, a sport he played and followed all throughout high school, is very under appreciated by most sports fans today.

Preston has worked for various sports media outlets including interning for ESPN Sports Radio 1080 The Fan in Portland, writing for the Oregon Daily Emerald, and working as a talent both on and off camera for Duck TV Sports. He will continue to work for these organizations and additionally, he will serve as an Oregon Ducks Insider for Comcast SportsNet Northwest (CSNNW) in Eugene for the Fall of 2012.

Trent Warren

Oregon Ducks and Big Topic Sports Writer

Trent is currently working on his degree in Journalism and Psychology minor as a freshman at the University of Oregon. Now making the transition from athlete to sports analyst, he has aspirations of working somewhere in the sports business as well as becoming an author. His favorite sports include football, basketball, track and field, mixed martial arts and boxing.

Growing up in beautiful San Diego, CA, he loves his Chargers and supports his hometown San Diego State Aztecs. While in his hometown he played four years of baseball, four years of basketball, two years of track and field, one year of volleyball, and one year of cross country.

An accomplished track and field athlete, he was named cross-country and track and field MVP in 2011 for Eastlake High School, Chula Vista. He was also a track and field CIF finalist in the 1600m, Mesa league 1600m champion, and was named to the All-Mesa League team in cross-country.

Bart Batey
Oregon Ducks, MLB, NFL, and Big Topic Sports Writer

Bart is a first-year student majoring in Sports Business at the University of Oregon and hopes to work anywhere in the sports industry. Raised in Colorado Springs, CO, he follows Denver-area professional sports closely, as well as the Oregon Ducks. Bart enjoys watching and playing football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. He played both football and baseball for four years in high school.

Ronnie Grenier

Ronnie is a first year student at the University of Oregon studying Sports Business and hopes to eventually work within a front office of an NFL franchise. Growing up in northwestern Montana, there was never a designated professional team to follow, so Ronnie became a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Cavaliers. He played football and golf in high school and continues to keep a summer job at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Montana. Some of his favorite sports columnists include Bill Simmons, Rick Reily, and Matthew Berry.

Zan Schindler

Zan is in his first year at the University of Oregon studying Public Relations and Advertising, with plans of going to law school. Growing up just twenty minutes north of Los Angeles, he has grown up a passionate Dodger and Laker fan. Back home he is an avid surfer, and loves being at the beach surrounded by good friends. An accomplished athlete and scholar, Zan served as the Student Body President at Hart High School during his senior year.

Matt Scotton
Portland Trail Blazers Writer

Matt is a freshman at the University of Oregon studying journalism. After graduation, he hopes to become a beat writer for a professional team or an on-air personality. Matt was raised in Medford, OR, and is a very passionate sports fan. A life-long Duck and Trail Blazer fan, Matt says that being at the Rose Bowl was definitely a top 10 moment of his life. Clyde Drexler is one of his favorite athletes because of his character on and off the court. Matt loves playing sports as much as he loves debating them.

Dallas McMurry
Bay Area and Big Topic Sports Writer

Dallas is a business major at Point Loma University in San Diego, CA. He hopes to one day work in the industry of professional sports. A huge fan of Cal football, the San Francisco Giants, the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Falcons, it is a battle to watch his favorite teams while living in San Diego. He takes every chance he gets to watch them play, and lobbies for greater sports coverage. When not watching sports, he enjoys playing baseball, football, basketball, and skateboarding.

Ry Basham Mintz
Media, Pop Culture, and Soccer Writer

Ry, from Sebastopol, CA, is currently a freshman at the University of Oregon, Eugene. He is a cinema studies major, and is considering double-majoring in journalism. Ry is an avid European football fan, and follows both the Italian club team of Juventus and the Italian men's national team very closely. Some of his favorite fĂștbol players include Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo, and Francesco Totti. Watching film and talking about film is one of Ry's favorite pastimes, and hopes to one day follow in the footsteps of some of the industry's greatest like Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Peter Jackson. Ry also loves everything Lord of the Rings, and has read the Hobbit and the trilogy once every year since fourth grade, and will continue to do so until the day he dies. Fun Fact: Ry has been mistaken for George Clooney on several occasions.

Hunter Moore
Media and Pop Culture Writer

Hunter H. Moore is currently a cinema studies major at the University of Oregon in his first year. Hunter enjoys PB&J sandwiches, a comfortable recliner, and a good foot-rub. His weekends consist of dining by candlelight and long walks on the beach with Ry Basham Mintz. A movie fanatic, Hunter appreciates the art of film and particularly likes Citizen Kane, Back to the Future, and Up. Not since the 90's has big hair been so darn charming.

Shona Blumeneau
Media, Pop Culture, and Soccer Writer

A household name unknown by few, the legend humbly resides in his hometown of Santa Cruz, CA. When not doing parkour or terrorizing the locals, he can be spotted studying for his general ed classes at Cabrillo College. In a recent interview, Mr. Blumeneau is quoted as saying, "I am partaking in the community college system before I make the big jump to UC Santa Barbara, where I'll most likely indulge myself in the Film and Media Studies program." An avid photographer, Shona (AKA Indiana Shones), has had his work published in "Cream" magazine (Australia) and was recently awarded an honorable mention and placed in the top 100 photos of Photographers Forum's 2012 best of high school and college photographs. A friend to many and a mentor to few, Shona gives back to the community by coaching youth soccer teams in the spring and fall. He is currently writing a screenplay about a Russian mobster who joins the Jamaican national ballet and yes, it's going very well.  Fun fact: It is a popular belief that Shona knows more about soccer than Ry Basham Mintz. He has also been mistaken for Ryan Gosling on many occasions.

Louie Hogan
Graphic Designer 

Louie Hogan is an Oregon native. Born and raised in the Portland Metropolitan area, he has been thoroughly rooted in the Evergreens and Douglas Firs that make up the Pacific Northwest. The third of four children, his childhood was full of adventure and thrill in the wooded backyard of his youth. Currently a student at U of O, Louie hopes to pursue a career in the field of screenwriting, hoping one day to make LA his new home.
